Unpsychology Imaginings 9.2 - the print edition is published!
You can order your copy today!
Very exciting news! Unpsychology Imaginings 9.2 - the print edition - has just been published!
Each PDF edition of Unpsychology Magazine is ALWAYS free to download. However, we now also publish a print edition to go with each issue!
The print edition of issue 9.2, the second of our two Unpsychology Imaginings magazines is now available to purchase for £10 (GBP) plus shipping wherever you are. We have tried to keep the cover price low as we know that postage costs can vary.
Click on the button below to buy your copy. You can also pick up a copy of the printed edition of the first Imaginings issue from the same place.
Our magazines are produced using Print On Demand (POD). This means we only print what we need (less paper and energy used), but it does mean that turnaround times can be a little longer than popping onto Amazon.
If you are looking to order bulk copies of Unpsychology 9.1 or 9.2 (5 or more copies), please contact me (Unpsychology editor, Steve Thorp) to ask about discounts: steve@unpsychology.org
Unpsychology in PRINT - a short history
We started putting Unpsychology Magazine out in 2014, and the first three issues were all in print. Back then, we could only do short runs, and getting the magazines out into the world was a challenge.
So, from issue 4 - The Climate Minds edition - we decided to offer Unpsychology as a free PDF download. It gave us flexibility in the design of the magazines, and distribution became a virtual process, undertaken via social media and email lists.
But….those first three issues were lovely things. There’s nothing like a good magazine or book in your hand – and so we’ve been looking at other ways of offering a print edition, that didn’t involve us printing loads of copies, storing them in the attic and selling one or two copies now and again!
When issue 8, The Anthology of Warm Data, was published last year, we had a lot of requests for a printed version from contributors and members of the Warm Data community. So, we took the plunge and explored the world of POD (Print on Demand). What emerged was a beautiful thing that surprised us!
The Warm Data magazine had been a labour of love, and we were very proud of what we’d curated in partnership with our Warm Data authors and contributors, when it was published in the usual PDF format. However, when the printed copies started to arrive in people’s post boxes around the world, the response was even more positive!
This double issue - Unpsychology 9.1 and 9.2 – around the theme of Imaginings – was planned in both print and PDF versions from the start. We think these are our best magazines yet, and we’d love you to have the satisfaction of opening your package and going '“Wow” - as we did when our own copies came through! The video below shows a walk through of the first Imaginings edition.
The music on the video of issue 9.1 is one of the pieces improvised by Patrick Carpenter and the Imaginings Ensemble, especially for this issue of the magazine. You can find the full session and a description of their collaboration HERE.
What has been so amazing about producing these print versions is that they are as interactive as the PDF version. There are QR codes and links throughout that take you to… well I’ll leave you to find that out!!!*
The PDF editions of 9.1 and 9.2 are out now and available as FREE downloads from HERE. And all previous editions of the magazine are available as FREE PDF downloads from HERE.
*Note - there is a glitch on some of the QR codes and links to soundfiles for issue 9.1. You can find a correction sheet that you can use to find your away around the first Imaginings issue HERE. The links for new issue (fingers crossed) are fine!
